A delegation headed by Lyu Jian, Chief Representative of Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) East and Central China, and Zhang Xia, Representative of HKTDC Jiangsu, visited China (Jiangsu) Pilot Free Trade Zone Nanjing Area on the morning of November 26. They toured the Museum of Planning of Nanjing Jiangsu New Area, Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute (JITRI), and the National Health and Medical Big-Data (Eastern) Center. Director of the Coordination Bureau of Nanjing Jiangbei New Area Administrative Committee Zhang Le escorted the delegation for the tour, and Deputy Director General of Nanjing Jiangbei New Area Administrative Committee Lin Qikun joined the delegation in the workshop.
Despite the low temperature in early winter, the workshop saw a warm and cordial atmosphere. Beginning with appreciations for the special visit paid by the delegation headed by Lyu and Zhang, Lin gave an overall introduction to Nanjing Jiangbei New Area (China (Jiangsu) Pilot Free Trade Zone Nanjing Area) as a growth area of the region, source of innovation, new urban area of Nanjing, and a place for pilot reform projects.
Hu Jun, Deputy Director of Nanjing Jiangbei New Area CBD Development & Management Office, introduced the development of the health industry in the CBD featuring “pharmaceuticals, research, health and elder care” and released international cooperation priorities.
Lyu expressed the wish to be a witness of the future growth of China (Jiangsu) Pilot Free Trade Zone Nanjing Area and the willingness to initiate cooperation. He suggested the two sides carry out high-end cooperation in the fields of medical treatment and health, and hoped to take Nanjing Area as an important anchor in carrying out Hong Kong-Jiangsu cooperation. As for institutional innovation, he suggested the two sides focus on specific issues and advance cooperation according to the needs of enterprises and investors.
The two sides expressed, China (Jiangsu) Pilot Free Trade Zone Nanjing Area will establish a regular communication mechanism with the HKTDC, invite Hong Kong enterprises to visit Nanjing Area and encourage them to make investment. In terms of institutional innovation, Nanjing Area will study the cutting-edge policy research of the HKTDC Research Division in the areas of investment and trade facilitation, rule of law services, and talent development, learn from the experience of Hong Kong as a free port, and make itself better heard by the world through the HKTDC international platform and its global office network.
