On the morning of January 13, a delegation headed by Xu Jun with Germany’s NRW Global Business Nanjing Representative Office visited China (Jiangsu) Pilot Free Trade Zone Nanjing Area in the company of the leading official of the Coordination Bureau of Nanjing Jiangbei New Area Administrative Committee who also joined the delegation in a meeting afterwards. Fan Xiaowei, Deputy Director of Cross-Border Procurement Center of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Jiangsu Sub-council, came along with them.

The delegation started with a tour of the Planning and Exhibition Hall of Jiangbei New Area, where they listened to a report on the development plans of Nanjing Jiangbei New Area and China (Jiangsu) Pilot Free Trade Zone Nanjing Area, the industrial plan for the “Two Towns and One Center”, and the development of key platforms, and were informed in detail of the experiences and practices in system innovation, industrial clustering, and scientific and technological innovation.

At China Future Internet Engineering Center (CFIEC) Nanjing Innovation Center, the delegation made detailed inquiries on cross-border flow of data, the development of IPv6 root server nodes, and the development of the Internet and intelligent manufacturing industry. Zhang Bing, Executive Vice General Manager of the Center took questions from the delegation. As an innovation carrier built by CFIEC in Nanjing, CFIEC Nanjing Innovation Center is committed to building and operating an Internet IPv6 root server system, carrying out work in key technology research, international exchanges and cooperation, offshore data outsourcing park, super hashrate center, and IPv6 Internet big data center regarding the Future Internet, and joining hands with departments and bureaus of Jiangsu Province and Nanjing City as well as industrial leaders to build a number of demonstration application projects for Future Internet IPv6 so as to contribute to Nanjing’s efforts to become a leader in innovation and promote Future Internet infrastructure construction, industrial clustering and digital economy in Jiangsu.

At the following meeting, the leading official of the Coordination Bureau of Nanjing Jiangbei New Area Administrative Committee introduced the development and achievements in institutional innovation of Nanjing Area and the services of the Bureau, and proposed ways to cooperate in the fields of policy research, industrial clustering and institutional innovation. Xu briefed the audience on North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, and the functions of NRW Global Business, and suggested priorities for future cooperation with Nanjing Area. The two sides expressed the wish to establish a regular communication mechanism, which will be conducive to Sino-German business communication, international cooperation, publicity of Nanjing Area and establishment of platforms for activities.

The Nanjing Area hopes to communicate with EU cities, enterprises and research institutes in the future for innovative ideas, provide stronger impetus and make contributions to sharing cutting-edge trends and exploring development paths, strive to enable innovation and cooperation in a larger scope and on a higher level, speed up the clustering and activation of global innovation resources, and make Nanjing Area more internationalized.
