On March 5, the launching ceremony of Nanjing Brain and Brain-like Industry (Future Brain Park) plan & unveiling ceremony of Nanjing Brain Science and Brain-like Intelligence Innovation Center (X-Brain Center) was held in the Nanjing Area, joined by Academician of the National Academy of Engineering, Foreign Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering & President of Jiangsu Aidi Institute of Science and Technology Huang E, Academician of International Eurasian Academy of Sciences (IEAS), former President of Peking University, former Director of State Key Laboratory of Vision and Auditory Information Processing Chi Huisheng, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Professor of Peking University, President of Nanjing Translational Medicine Institute (NTMI) Cheng Heping, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Researcher of the Shanghai Advanced Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences (SARI-CAS) and President of Institute of Brain-Intelligence Technology of Zhangjiang Lab Zhang Xu. Luo Qun, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Nanjing Municipal Committee and Full-time Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Jiangbei New Area, and Chen Chanmei, Deputy Director of Jiangbei New Area Administrative Committee attended the event.

Since the initiation of the Nanjing Jiangbei New Area Brain Science and Brain-like Research Industrial Technology Innovation Plan, the innovation-driven development of the “brain sciences” industry has been in steady progress. Key new R&D institutions in the field of brain sciences such as Nanjing Translational Medicine Institute (NTMI), an affiliate of the Institute of Molecular Medicine at Peking University, Nonlinear Science and Technology Research Institute, etc., as well as a number of innovative carriers such as China Brain Imaging Alliance Jiangsu Sub-center and Nanjing Human Brain Research Center have been introduced and settled in the Area.

The X-Brain Center demonstrates the integrated development of the gene industry and the chip industry. Further cooperation on brain sciences and brain-like intelligence will be carried out in the future. The Center will be committed to innovating and developing brain-computer interfaces (BCI), new technologies and devices for human-computer interaction, building mental models and personalized dynamic atlas of brain function, and realizing brain function decoding of Chinese language. It will establish a data factory for multi-modal brain science analysis, carry out R&D of brain-like language comprehension and a new generation of human-computer interaction intelligent technologies and brain-computer interaction systems. Top-notch talent and teams in brain-like and brain-computer industries will join in and advance the development of future brain industry based in Jiangbei. The establishment of the Center is of strategic significance to the prospective studies of AI, intelligent IoT industrial development and brain sciences in Jiangbei New Area (Pilot Free Trade Zone), China and beyond.
